Our feet take a beating each and every day, so consider pampering them this holiday season. If you’re wondering what to get your sister, your college roommate or your mailman, consider giving a gift that shows that you care about the well-being of their feet. With that said, you need to make some smart decisions when it comes to picking out a foot-friendly gift for someone this season. We share five foot-friendly gifts and tips in today’s blog.
Foot Friendly Christmas Gifts
Here’s a look at five foot-friendly holiday gifts to consider this season.
1. Pedicure – A pedicure is a great gift for anyone in your life who spends a lot of time on their feet. Pedicures help to remove rough skin and keep your toenails at an appropriate length and angle. When purchasing a gift card for a pedicure, find out if the recipient has a favorite salon, or check the reviews online, because an improperly administered pedicure can actually cause problems or infections.
2. Shoes – Everybody needs shoes, so consider giving someone a gift card to their local shoe store. We again recommend getting a gift card because you never know how shoes are going to fit until your try them on. If you buy something that’s too big or too small, it can lead to bunions or other foot issues. Buy them a gift card or take them with you to pick out a pair that fits their style and more importantly, their feet.
3. Winter Boots – Living in Minnesota, you’re not going to be able to get by with your everyday shoes throughout the year, you’re going to need a winter boot. Again, we recommend getting a gift card or going with the person to pick out a pair they can try on, but look for a boot that is warm, comfortable and that has good grip on the bottom for staying upright when walking on snow and ice.
4. Socks – Although they aren’t the most fun gift, socks are a very practical option, especially for kids or for the diabetic in your life. Kids seem to rip holes in their socks all the time, so updating their socks can help protect them against blisters. Diabetic compression stockings are also a good idea because they help to improve circulation in their feet, which can be impacted by the diabetes. Put them in their stockings if you don’t want to wrap the socks up as a stand-alone present.
5. Yoga Mat – Yoga is great for your feet because it works to strength key foot muscles and improve your balance. If someone in your life has been considering yoga, take this as an opportunity to help them get started. Yoga and Tai Chi are great for individuals looking to strengthen their feet.
