Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and if you’re a mom who wants to pamper herself this weekend, or you’re looking for the perfect gift for the mother in your life, the feet are a great place to start. That being said, if you’re not careful, you can actually do more harm than good. Today, we share some tips for pampering your feet this Mother’s Day.
Mother’s Day Foot Guide
If it pertains to feet, we’ve got you covered. Here are the tips you should keep in mind:
1. Shoes – There are a number of tips to keep in mind when it comes to your mom’s shoes. For starters, we recommend that you don’t buy her new shoes sight unseen. Even if you know she likes them and you believe you have her size, you never know how a shoe fits until you try them on. Consider going with her to have her pick out shoes, or if you’re dead set on surprising her with a pair, get a gift receipt in case they don’t fit quite right.
Another thing to keep in mind is appropriate shoes for activities. If you’re planning on surprising the mom in your life with a walk around the lake or a play date with grandchildren, make sure she packs the right shoes for the job. If she’s wearing a heel or a more stylish option that isn’t suitable for long periods of walking or standing, her feet may be aching by night’s end. You can surprise her, but at least give her a hint about what shoes she should pack!
2. Pedicure – Another common gift for moms on Mother’s Day is a gift certificate to a spa or to a nail salon. If you’ve never purchased a gift card to one of these places, don’t fret. Text a friend or family member for recommendations in the area if you don’t know where to turn. Simply choosing the cheapest salon isn’t always the best idea, because they may not fully sanitize their tools or work areas, and that can lead to foot infections or other bacterial issues. If you know she has a salon of choice, stick with that, even if it is a little more expensive.
3. Massage – Another way to pamper her feet is to arrange a massage. Similar to the above point, ask around to find a massage parlor that has good reviews. Or better yet, offer to give her a foot massage yourself!
4. Soak – Finally, one last way you can help her pamper her feet this Mother’s Day is with a soak in the tub. Soaking your feet relaxes muscles, keeps your feet clean and can improve your mood. Bath bombs or foot scrubs are great additions to a Mother’s Day basket, and they will ensure her feet stay clean and healthy.
