A friend of mine recently sent me a video that told the story of Richie Parker, a man who does more with his feet than most people do with their hands. Due to a non-genetic birth defect, Parker was born without arms. Determined to overcome his condition, Parker set out to do things everyone else his age was doing at the time. From making popcorn in the microwave to riding a bike and fixing his car, “can’t” seems to be one word that isn’t in Parker’s dictionary.
Parker’s fascination for cars, particularly his love of his 1964 Chevy Impala SS, led him to pursue a career in engineering. Today he designs parts for Hendrick Motorsports, the winningest organization in NASCAR. ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi chronicled Parker’s journey in a piece you simply have to see to believe.
