We’re less than a month away from this year’s David Lewis Memorial Our Hearts To Your Soles event! Plans are coming together as anticipated, and we just wanted to take a moment to share the plans for the big night. Here’s a look at what’s in store for OHTYS 2022.
Our Hearts To Your Soles 2022
The David Lewis Memorial Our Hearts To Your Soles 2022 event will take place on Wednesday, July 20 at the Saint Paul Opportunity Center and Dorothy Day Residence, located at 422 Dorothy Day Place in St. Paul. The event will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
This will be the 15th year that the Twin Cities will be involved in the Our Hearts To Your Soles event, and it’s the second year that we’re honoring David Lewis, an orthotist, friend and colleague who devoted his life to helping people get back on their feet. David passed away unexpectedly in 2019, and we honored his legacy by changing the name to the David Lewis Memorial Our Hearts To Soles event. Our 2020 and 2021 events were cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it will be wonderful to get back together this year to honor David and help those in our community who need it most.
The annual Our Hearts To Your Soles event provides socks, shoes, foot exams, hygiene kits and so much more to homeless and financially burdened individuals here in the Twin Cities. The event helps protect the feet of many people in our own backyard who may not otherwise have access to this type of care. We’d like to thank Red Wing Shoes for donating the shoes, Catholic Charities for the use of their venue and their assistance in spreading word of the event to other shelters throughout the city, and to the St. Paul Police Department for their help in providing oversight and assistance with the event.
Parking will be available at the Dorothy Day lot on a first come, first serve basis, and there are a number of other easily accessible lots nearby in the event that the center’s lot fills up.
Want To Volunteer?
We’re still looking for volunteers to help with the event. Right now we’re hoping that you can assist with one of the two shifts below:
Shift 1 – 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.
Shift 2 – 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.
If you can make either of those time slots work and are interested in volunteering on the 20th or are interested in getting involved in another capacity, please send a message to Rachel at Rachel@anklefootmd.com.
We’ll provide another reminder as the event gets closer, but we hope to see you all there next month!
