Today’s blog post will be our last blog post of 2016, and the year was certainly one to remember. But before the calendar officially turns to 2017, we thought it would be a good idea to take a look back at some of our favorite blogs from the year. So without further adieu, here’s the list of our five favorite blogs from 2016. To check out our top five from 2015, click here.
Our Favorite Five
Here’s a look at five blogs from 2016 that stood out from the rest:
5. 4 Things You’re Lying To Your Doctor About
This one comes in at number five because it’s relatable for both patient and practitioner. Doctors know patients lie, and that’s problematic. We’re not here to scold you, we just want to ensure you are as healthy as possible, and we can’t do that without first understanding the true picture of your daily life. Did you lie about any of the discussed topics at your last doctor visit?
4. Dr. Silverman Talks Teddy Bridgewater Rehab
I never like penning a blog about a person suffering an injury, but keeping tabs on the biggest lower body injuries in professional sports is always something we keep an eye on. This injury was one of the more gruesome lower body injuries in professional sports this year, and it happened in our own backyard. Teddy Bridgewater dislocated his knee and tore his ACL, and diving into the injury and his prognosis was a truly interesting subject. Like I said at the time of his injury, I wish him the best in his recovery.
3. Could Earlier Ankle Surgery Have Saved Pekovic’s Career?
In a similar vein, I never like saying “I told you so” when it comes to forecasting injuries, but sometimes I’ll read about an athlete or a team pushing for a quick fix over doing something that will ensure they are better off in the long run. So it came as no surprise when Nikola Pekovic announced that he would not play this season and may retire due to recurrent ankle pain. We believed his first operation would not fully address the problem, and it reared its ugly head later down the road.
2. Recapping Our Hearts To Your Soles 2016
Our Hearts To Your Soles is always one of our favorite events of the year, so it’s no surprise to see the recap post make the top five list. This year’s event was incredible, and I enjoyed recapping the night on the blog. Click on the blog to read about this year’s event and what’s in store for 2017.
1. Recapping The Special Olympics Minnesota Spring Games
This blog takes the top spot for the year because I was truly blown away by everyone at the Spring Games. The athletes were so gracious for the medical assistance we were providing, and it seemed like everyone had a smile on their face the entire day. I hope I can work the event again in 2017 because it was such a rewarding experience.
