Another successful Our Hearts To Your Soles event is in the books, and we couldn’t be happier with the turnout. We had amazing attendance and a wonderful turnout from volunteers to ensure the latest charity event was a smashing success! Thank you to everyone who made the day perfect.
We were able to help hundreds of people over the course of three short hours. 368 attendees received Red Wing boots and foot exams, and we handed out more than 1,000 pairs of socks. A number of volunteers who I spoke with at the event mentioned that they felt that this was the most appreciative group of attendees they can remember. It was truly a blessed experience full of wonderful interactions.
Two Moving Moments
We heard so many stories from attendees who were grateful for the care they received at Our Hearts To Your Soles, but two experiences really moved us.
The first was from an attendee who has always had a tough time finding a quality pair of protective shoes because one foot is oversized compared to the other. Red Wing Shoes did not have the right type of footwear for the situation on hand, but they worked with this individual and are in the process of creating a custom shoe to fit their foot. They’ll have this customized pair of shoes tailored to their specific foot shape in just a couple of weeks, all free of charge. Red Wing Shoes truly went above and beyond for this individual’s care.
Another moving moment was when another attendee came up and delivered me a personalized thank you card. She had been at Our Hearts To Your Soles in the past, and she wanted to reach out and thank us personally, noting that the shoes really helped her while she moved in and out of homelessness. Sometimes the things we take for granted can have lifechanging value to others, and we’d be wise never to forget this when we’re out in our community.
So once again, I just want to say thank you to everyone who was able to make another OHTYS event was a success. I specifically want to shout out Chris Boosalis of Boosalis Prosthetic Consulting and Therese Gails at Catholic Charities Twin Cities for all they do behind the scenes and during the event to ensure its success. It was an incredible day full of joy, laughter and helping those in our community, and we couldn’t have done it without the help of so many who donated time and resources to the event.
We hope to share some photos and video from the event in the coming days, so stay tuned to our blog and social channels for those. Thank you to everyone who made OHTYS 2024 a big success!
