My experiences over the past 11 years (since 2006) with Dr. Silverman as my Foot & Ankle Specialist.
- If your surgery is on a Friday, Dr. Silverman calls his patients on the weekend even if on Christmas Eve to ensure you are doing OK.
- Dr. Silverman provides maximum comfort to his patients by doing a nerve block so you are comfortable after surgery up to 24 hours or longer if necessary. He has done this with all my surgeries.
- He does a thorough evaluation head to toe to try and figure out the root cause of the issue and how to properly correct the problem.
- Dr. Silverman is passionate about helping people, not only getting back to what they love to do, but to see his patients recovery with less pain and successfully be pain free. He is always researching and applying new techniques that significantly make the recovery process easier with less pain for his patients and to provide the best & most advanced results!
While in the military 11 years ago I was referred to the best Achilles Reconstructive Surgeon in MN, to Dr. Lance Silverman. He did surgery on both my right and left Achilles. After having a successful surgery on my right Achilles, he did my left. Before doing my left Achilles he offered to do a new technique that would provide a less painful recovery, faster results and more range of motion. I said yes! I was blown away by the night and day difference between each recovery, the left was significantly less painful going from the cast to the walking boot. Both same procedures with the left having more range of motion in less time. He also did a bone spur removal and ligament repair on my right ankle. Both Achilles and ankles are pain free! Please know if you follow all of his instructions (keep elevated and iced), do your exercises (including everything your Physical Therapist says if applicable) you will have phenomenal results! A year and a half after finishing all those recoveries and working hard, I was back on my feet enjoying all my favorite classes at the gym… I lost 62 pounds!!!
I have since then moved out of state. Last year I decided to let a different doctor correct a bunion on my right foot. Unfortunately it went horribly wrong. I decided to see Dr. Silverman for a second opinion after my prior surgeon said x-rays look great and sent me to physical therapy which did not help the severe pain I was having. Dr. Silverman examined my foot, took x-rays, and explained there was a screw poking thru the other side of my bone digging into my tendon causing the pain. Dr. Silverman accommodated my schedule while I was in MN and had the crew removed in two days! I walked out of surgery with no pain from the screw. I returned home. While I patiently waited two months for my foot to heal and took it easy… I knew there was still something seriously wrong from my original bunion surgery. I went back to see Dr. Silverman. He did a full evaluation and took x-rays again but this time I was able to put full weight baring standing on that foot without the pain from the screw. He showed me my x-rays and compared them to the ones from the previous surgeon and explained to me what was happening (the bunion was over corrected) and how he could fix it. I was ready before mentally for the recovery and was more than ready for the opportunity to be pain free. I went ahead with Dr. Silverman’s plan to fuse the two major bones in my right foot. Not my ankle joint or the big toe joint so I could get back to doing what I love and to someday do Zumba without pain. He said I’m going to do a bone graft only to help you heal faster and have you take vitamin supplements and protein power to ensure you have all the nutrition needed to heal in 6 Weeks! I was walking at 7 weeks post-op with little soreness and progressed wonderfully just as I have with all the other surgeries I’ve had with Dr. Silverman. It is Very hard to find the words to express and explain how he did another amazing surgery and fixed what another doctor jacked up… and Made Me Pain Free and feel like I seriously Never had a problem or pain in the past. I cry just thinking about it because he changed my life back when I was in the military with so many foot and ankle injuries to years later changing my life again for the best.
Prior to my original bunion surgery and the corrective bunion surgery with Dr. Silverman, I couldn’t walk for more than 30 minutes once a week without severe pain. It stopped me from doing all my favorite classes at the gym and being active outside with my daughter. I am now 5 Months Post Op!! No Pain!!! My foot doesn’t even feel like it’s fused. Crazy I know! I can comfortably rock my foot to the out side, roll my foot to the inside and push off using the inside of my foot without pain and once again trust my foot. It feels amazing to be back at the gym doing everything I love and enjoying the outdoors again without pain!!
