Procedure: Ankle Ligament Reconstruction
What was your initial medical issue?
I was kicked in the ankle during a kickball game and my leg swelled up to the size of an elephant’s leg.
What did this issue prevent you doing?
I gave up my job and my sub job because I couldn’t stand on my feet for long periods. The ligaments in my leg couldn’t hold.
What made you decide to do something about your problem?
Because I had to give up my job. I would home come and lay down on the couch and elevate my leg. I did that for two years.
Why did you choose Dr. Silverman?
Because I went to seven orthopedic surgeons and every time they recommended a cortisone shot but didn’t do anything else because nothing was broken. Three doctors also recommended orthopedic inserts. I got three pairs for $500 and Dr. Silverman told me to throw those away as far as possible. I saw a vein specialist because my veins were swollen, but eventually they decided not to undergo a vein surgery. I had pain with every step. I finally had enough.
What treatment/procedure did you have done?
Ankle Ligament Reconstruction Surgery. He also removed a spur from my foot.
How did you feel after treatment?
I am still having some problems with my knee because of some of the failed treatments, one of which was an AFO boot, but my foot is finally getting stronger. Nothing was getting better until I visited with Dr. Silverman. He saw me though this. It is getting a lot, lot better.
What advice would you give other patients in a similar situation to you?
Go to Dr. Silverman. He is the best.
