Procedure: Foot Fracture Surgery
What was your initial medical issue?
I missed a step, fell, and broke left foot.
What made you decide to do something about your problem?
Right away I knew my foot was broken because I heard a crack. But it was nighttime and my family was out at the Wild game, so I just put ice on my foot and waited until the morning. The next day my daughter took me to the doctor and they did X-rays and confirmed the break. The doctor said it was a really bad break and recommended I see a surgeon. I was referred to another surgeon but she didn’t want to do surgery. She said I could let it heal on its own, but it wouldn’t function as well as before the break. I didn’t want to do that, so I started looking for another surgeon.
Why did you choose Dr. Silverman?
I was referred to Dr. Silverman via my brother (who is also a surgeon).
What treatment/procedure did you have done?
Foot fracture reconstruction, as well as an ankle ligament reconstruction.
How did you feel after treatment?
Good – great care at the hospital and by Dr. Silverman. He has great bedside manner and made me fee reassured. He got me in for surgery within a few days of my initial appointment. I started physical therapy right away after the surgery and progressed through recovery really quick.
What advice would you give other patients in a similar situation to you?
Trust your doctor. It was all worth it.
