Procedure: Ankle Ligament Reconstruction
What was your initial medical issue?
A long-term foot injury.
What did this issue prevent you doing?
I couldn’t run or bike, which were my main activities. I also couldn’t play basketball, but I had kind of given that up at this stage of my life. The pain also made it hard to sleep.
What made you decide to do something about your problem?
I had two kids go through problems and they were treated by Dr. Silverman. My younger son had an ankle sprain, and Dr. Silverman examined him and eventually decided not to have surgery. My older son who was a senior had a more severe ankle injury from basketball, and Dr. Silverman preformed the surgery and it worked out really well.
Why did you choose Dr. Silverman?
Initially it was because he was in Apple Valley, but I saw how we helped my sons, he was knowledgeable, personable and was never overly driving us towards surgery.
What treatment/procedure did you have done?
I had my ankle ligaments tightened because my ankle was unstable.
How did you feel after treatment?
My ankle feels super. I was so used to twisting it while walking when I’d step on something not level, but now that my ligaments are tightened it keeps me stable.
What advice would you give other patients in a similar situation to you?
I had been putting off surgery for more than a decade. If it’s bad enough that you can’t do normal activities, don’t wait. There is hope. Get help.
