A couple of months ago, we featured a story on our blog about the SAF-T Vest, a wearable personal airbag system that is designed to help prevent injuries in the event of a fall. Back then, the technology had recently received its “Notice of Allowance” from the U.S. Patent and Trademark office, and now the product is only gaining more attention as it was featured on KSTP-TV last night
The SAF-T Vest is a wearable technology that quickly inflates the moment it detects a fall in the wearer. After protecting the individual from the initial impact, it then quickly deflates to prevent a bounce-back effect that could also contribute to injury. You can learn more about the product by watching this one minute video.
For the sake of full disclosure, it should be noted that I am a medical advisor to the team developing the product, but I truly believe in the SAF-T vest and I’ve personally seen the devastating effects that a fall can have on a person, so any product that can help prevent fall-related injuries is something I’ll back. I hope you caught the broadcast in real-time, but if you missed it, you can check out the segment in its entirety below. You can also read the accompanying news piece on KSTP.com.
Congrats to all the engineers and development team members who have worked on the SAF-T vest, your hard work is paying off! And if you or a loved one want more information about the SAF-T vest or want to help in their fundraising efforts, swing on over to their website by clicking here.
