Thank you to everyone who came out to Our Hearts To Your Soles 2015! It was such an amazing night. Here’s a quick recap and a look at some images from the night.
Thank You Volunteers!
We were lucky enough to have more than 20 doctors, podiatrists, orthopedic surgeons, vascular and general surgeons, spinal and neurosurgeons, pediatric physicians, chronic/physical pain specialists, dermatologists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants in attendance. All of them were great resources for providing medical exams, explaining medical issues and answering any health questions the attendees had.
Thank you to all the medical personnel who came our for the event, but there were many others who played a crucial role in the event’s success. More than 50 volunteers came down to the center to hand out hygiene kits, blankets and jackets. We also had more than 30 shoe fitters, including staff from Schuler Shoes, Arise Orthotics and my friend and colleague Chris Boosalis of Minnesota Prosthetics and Orthotics. We also had assistance from 12 attorneys and one chemical dependency counselor, who helped provide advice in a variety of fields, from criminal and personal injury law to social security disability benefits and drug rehabilitation outlets.
Altogether it was truly an inspirational event. We were able to fit a total of 319 attendees with Red Wing shoes and Dignity U Wear socks. We still have a few extra pairs of shoes, so if you were unable to come to the event, you may still be able to receive a pair through the Dorothy Day Center and Catholic Charities of the Twin Cities. We also had some leftover hygiene bags that will be passed out to folks who come to the Dorothy Day Center in the coming weeks.
Thanks again to everyone who came out and made the event so special. It is truly the highlight of the year for me. We can’t wait for next year’s event!
